Came here with my partner and his dad a while back just to try something new while dad was visiting. We got 3 different sandwiches I certainly enjoyed my Cuban. I won’t say it’s the best Cuban I’ve ever had, but I enjoyed it far more than any other I’ve had here in southern Oregon so far! The lemonade brand they sell is also delicious! Overall I liked it. It’s close enough to Lithia park to be conveniently accessible but offset enough from the main roads to be pleasant and quiet. Overall I am a fan!
As in other critical reviews I've written, I will not describe all the things that I have loved about the business, since google just takes those bits out of context , and that's all people ever see. The point of this review is to address the decline in the quality and value of their food menu. The brisket bahn mi is an offering that I have seen praised in reviews. It was a personal favorite of mine as well. Kind of a vietnamese-inspired french dip fusion sandwich. That's fun. Only the last few times I've ordered one, it has become skimpier on meat and sloppier in preparation. I usually assume it's a one-off occurance with something like this at a favorite restaurant, but the last time I ordered one the briskit was carved so badly that it was mostly hard fat, so I had to completely take the sandwich apart, try to salvage the decent bits of meat, and put it all back together again. Next were the tacos... those have been decent and affordable bites at $3 apiece for pollo or carne asada. Recently added fish tacos are $4 each. Not fantastic tacos, but especially useful to order for my kids who may want something small and fairly basic. We stopped by last sunday, and I ordered one of each taco. They are not the same tacos. They are about the smallest street-style tacos that it is possible to make. Think, approximately a tablespoon of dry, diced meat. About the same amount of chopped onion, some cilantro, and salsa. To add insult to injury this is served atop a single, miniscule tortilla. Everyone knows that any taco nearly this tiny comes with two tortillas apiece, and they'd better arrive warm. The fish taco was equally embarrassing. I wouldn't pay $1 for a street taco like these. Aside from the "tacos", I decided to try and Item on the menu that I hadn't yet, the chicken cheesesteak. We'll, that wasn't impressive. The contents of the sandwich were something like a chicken machaca, with melted cheese and lots of mayo. My theory is that the ownership has turned over their kitchen staff as I have noticed all new people in the kitchen within the last year. That's when I noticed the preparation of their funkier fusion items going downhill, as well as the increasing addition of more basic taco-shop type fare to the menu. So the balance has tipped from fresh, tasty fusion at a value, to a below avarage taco shop attempting fusion cuisine, forget the value. I know the price of basically everything is up, but some honesty as far as changes in pricing or portion size is something I expect.
Fork an A!!! I had to try this place because of the great reviews I read, and it was even better than I thought it would be! I had the brisket sandwich it was too good!! I had it without the jalapenos and it had the best heat, just enough to get you going. I ate outside on a very cold day and the heaters and fire pit made me take my jacket off. Well done I will definitely be coming back soon!!
This is the local hangout spot for me and my kiddo (7) and pup (very dog friendly). Food is delish. Service is outstanding. Fire pits, heaters, covered and uncovered seating. Small tables inside and 4 booty bar space. Highly recommend.
Great outdoor experience! Food order came quick and beer was cold 🥶 perfect for these hot summer days. If you are needing a place to park your bike there is a bike rack along side Ruby’s restaurant. Thank you for the tamales 🫔 and the poblano sandwich 🥪!
