Service-wise, this review is specifically for Ashley! She is the best server and always takes care of us. We were so excited she was there tonight. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. Food-wise, Kobe is phenomenal. We mainly have sashimi (you can get all nigiri as sashimi) and the quality is unmatched. Hamachi, maguro, sake - delicious! The short ribs appetizer is incredible, the salad (garden salad?) has the best dressing, gyoza is great. Today they had steak bao as an appetizer and they were phenomenal. Service-wise, if it’s not Ashley, it can be a mixed bag. Occasionally a long dinner experience.

I didn’t expect to run into such a top notch sushi spot deep in southern Oregon. The fish was fresh and high quality. In the rolls, the chef had an ability to pair ingredients that emphasized texture, all the while working in excellent flavors. The darru and surf and turf rolls were a highlight. The sea urchin roll was out-of-this-world, like a bite of delicious ocean. Starting with the wagyu sliders was a great contrast to the cold sushi dishes. Fatty beef, seared, with salty seasoning and pickles. Excellent! The service was struggling the night we went. They held us up at the bar 20 minutes past our reservation time. They only seated us because we gave up on waiting for an outdoor table. It then took 20 minutes to meet the server and order, and another 45 minutes to start eating. Ultimately the food exceeded the flaccid service. I will be back, but not on a night when I’m in a hurry.

Food- I ranked this for the Price. It is 3 stars for the price. For the prices they charge this should be some very special fish- not the standard quality sushi fish. It is not supermarket sushi, much better than that- but 18-20$ for rolls and 4 piece nigiri with 6 piece sashimi for $49? This should be exquisite quality for that price- and it is not, and I’m sure they know this. Service is fine- servers are nice, but can be excruciatingly slow. Don’t count on take out- they might tell you they won’t do it. Atmosphere is nice, nice place to sit and enjoy dinner for a special occasion if you can afford it. If you are the type who eats one roll and wants a nice place for dinner- this is great, but if you like ordering and enjoying a lot of sushi this place will cost you hundreds of dollars and the quality does not justify this. It is a bit sad and feels exploitative but at same time, so many places here have closed- it might be what they need to charge to stay open. Hard to judge but just know you are paying a high premium for pretty good but not AMAZING sushi.

We had an excellent meal with two friends. Our meal included shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, gyoza, red dragon rolls and creme brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent.

This is an elegant little restaurant , fish oriented Japanese style restaurant near the plaza in Ashland. This place has been here for almost 20 years, which is almost impossible for Ashland . I had a family dinner with two others, and we try the salmon with the carrot curry puree, the lobster tempura, and the sunshine roll and the red dragon roll. it was all fantastic. the service here is well above average. the kitchen has a small amount of entrees to work with and they execute very well. It's a nice mid-priced restaurant great for dates or small family gatherings. As far as sushi in Ashland is the only one that's slightly upscale. The salmon small hot plate is absolutely delicious!!
