We had the most pleasant experience at nous celebrating Mother’s Day. Being vegetarians we were little apprehensive about German and French cuisine but to our surprise, they had a lot of vegetarian dishes and all of them were delicious ! We arrived late for our dinner reservation and had loud kids with us, but Julie and the whole staff in the restaurant made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Everything about this place is incredible - the food , drinks , ambience , atmosphere and the staff , they were all wonderful. We will surely come back here soon ❤️
We so enjoyed our dinner here. The atmosphere is quietly elegant and beautiful, artistic without being pretentious. The service was as good as any fine restaurant - professional, attentive, friendly. We loved our food, made in the Alsatian (French/German) tradition. The flat bread with vegetables, made gluten and dairy free, an appetizer, is delicious. They have many accommodations for people with food allergies, which made it extra-special for me, as I cannot eat gluten or dairy, and cannot always find a meal like this. Most of us had the schnitzel, some with spatzle, while I had sauerkraut. Another had the sole with vegetables. Our table attendant, Molly, is a sommelier and helped us pick an excellent Alsatian white wine - we have not had a white wine with that flavor profile, and all four of us loved it. There were so many little touches from the staff. Alas, we were too full for dessert, but we hope to come back later this weekend to make up for it.
Food was wonderful! Came in for brunch this weekend. It was outstanding! I had the chef choice veggie dish. Was perfect for summer! Also got a special chat with the chef! He convinced us to come for dinner! We got the beat and melon salad for appetizers, then the steak and the duck for dinner! The steak was delicious. The fries were perfection, crispy and soft inside! Finally for dessert we had the pot de cream since we had to split for a play, that’s a must for me, if your in a time crunch!
Everything we had at brunch was spectacular. Beautiful presentation and flavor. It's a very high-end experience, with less of the pressure and frills that some places may have. No pressure to wear a dress or suit (unless you want); and the prices are not greatly inflated compared to the quality and creativity you are getting. I would feel comfortable coming here for a special date, but I'd also feel comfortable strolling in here on a casual weekend with family. You won't want to miss chef Charlie and his crew's great cooking and service! Pictured: the seasonal veggie frittata (comes with side salad) + Munster cheese, and the chef's gemuse (seasonal veggies) featuring beets infused with smoked lapsang tea, poached pears and pear chips with tarragon, with an added poached egg Not pictured, but still great: salmon gravlax toast (comes with side salad), and the schnitzel Benedict with pork cutlet They will do a better job explaining the dishes than I did!
We stopped in as we were walking past looking for a pre-dinner glass of wine. The Aslatian fare was intriguing so we came in to try some wine and light apps. Such a wonderful, sublime experience. The wines by glass are superb, we tried 4 different varieties. We had the bretzal and soup de jour (mushroom). Really top shelf for both. They offered an amuse bouche that was delightful and finished with a small chocolate blueberry bite. All were so good, we almost canceled our dinner reservations. Easily top tier in Ashland.
