Oh my goodness! One of the best restaurants in Ashland for a fine dining experience and high-end chefs! We ate here for Thanksgiving dinner in 2025 and it was probably the best turkey I’ve had in my life. Every single bite of all the food was delicious and then we just came again this week, and once again, every bite was delicious! For starters, we had profiteroles and snap peas with mushrooms, and our entrees were an incredible potato-crusted risotto, and the salmon. The restaurant is so charming and the service is excellent. Jasmine was very attentive and such a delightful waitress. My partner is a vegetarian, and there were plenty of items for him to choose from. 👌🎉
The price is worth every penny. During a recent road trip, we made a stop in Ashland and stumbled across Peerless Restaurant & Bar. Housed within a beautifully converted warehouse, the restaurant immediately sets the tone with its warm atmosphere, rustic elegance and inviting character. If you're searching for fine dining in Ashland, Peerless doesn't just meet expectations, it exceeds them. Food & Drinks.... Let's talk about the food, because this is where Peerless truly shines. At first glance, the menu prices may make you hesitate. As an Australian, seeing a $65 steak certainly caught my attention. But the moment that perfectly cooked, thick-cut steak arrived at the table, every doubt disappeared. Cooked exactly as requested, incredibly tender and packed with smoky grilled flavour, each bite was better than the last. It wasn't just a steak, it was an experience. The French onion soup was equally impressive, delivering rich, traditional flavours that transported us straight to France. The pork dish was beautifully balanced, pairing tender, perfectly cooked meat with a silky carrot purée that complemented the savoury sweetness of the dish perfectly. The portion sizes matched the premium price point, leaving us completely satisfied and convinced that the quality justified every dollar. Service.... Exceptional food deserves exceptional service, and Peerless delivered both. Our waiter was calm, welcoming and genuinely attentive throughout the evening. What impressed us most, however, was witnessing the professionalism of the team during a medical incident involving guests seated nearby. The waiter responded with remarkable composure, remaining with the guest's wife, offering reassurance, and discreetly assisting the couple to their car once everything had settled. It was handled with genuine care, empathy and respect, and spoke volumes about the calibre of the team. It's moments like these that remind you great hospitality isn't just about serving food, it's about looking after people. Would I Recommend It?.... Without hesitation. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Ashland, Peerless Restaurant & Bar deserves a place at the top of your list. Exceptional food, outstanding service and an atmosphere that perfectly balances elegance with comfort make this a restaurant well worth every penny. My wife and I visited Peerless for happy hour and were unfortunately disappointed. We ordered the cheese burger, gouda fries and wings. The gouda fries were good, as were the wings. My wife ordered the burger well done and it was medium rare as the picture will show. The server only checked on us once, before the food was served, so it was useless to even mention anything when the check came. The venue is nice and we were out on the patio where there is a nice tranquil water fountain. I'm not sure if we will give this restaurant another try or not.
I’ve been here more than once. The food is always very good and occasionally brilliant. Portion sizes are reasonable but not large if you’re a big eater. (Given the price point) Bartender is sharp and there are good wines by the glass. Atmosphere is pleasant and homey and not crowded. Conversation is easy even with other diners.
Easy online reservation via the restaurant website. Appetizers: 1) Sourdough and honey butter rope with sea salt and parsley 2) Carpaccio Soup and salad: 1) onion soup 2) lobster and fennel salad Entree: 1) market fish-flaky, white halibut atop asparagus risotto 2) duck breast with roasted root vegetables Service: attentive! Originally sat outside on a crisp spring evening with outdoor heater. After the sun went down, it became too cold and we (and, several other table guests) all moved indoors with ease. While the onion soup was topped off nicely, it didn’t resemble a typical French onion soup with a deep beef and wine base. Instead, it reminded me of a chicken pozole but without the chicken and chickpea. It was ok. Our favorite was the lobster and fennel salad by far! Accompanied by a generous slice of sourdough finished with creamy butter, the real treat was the honey drizzled butter. The entrees were very good and we’d recommend. I may return for the ribeye.
