Holy profit margins, Batman! It seems the basis of this restaurant was to take simple elements and up-charge based on the infusion of spices, often in an unbalanced and excessive way. We ordered the kebab sandwich and French toast. In total, this ended up being 5 slices of identical fried bread, accented differently. The French toast was not traditionally battered before preparation, so a bit of false advertising if you are expecting a fluffy exterior. It came with several clashing flavors of orange, mango, cardamom, and saffron. Not much subtlety and a little bit of flavor confusion. The kebab sandwich didn’t match the menu, which described sliced beef, goat cheese, tamarind, and yogurt. It was rather a heavily cardamom spiced hamburger patty with salad, picked onions, and a light sauce. With missing internal components and no sides, not worth $20. The drinks were also a bit confused, with the aftertaste becoming cloying from too many competing spices and floral elements. While spice is the flavor of life, I’m not sure a spice-forward restaurant is my cup of tea. Perhaps spices should be used more as an accent than a staple.
Incredible breakfast experience. The gluten free toast is gooey, thick, buttery — I’ve been celiac for years and haven’t had anything like it. Love the taters and the omelette is full of fresh local veggies. Great cold brew. Lovely staff. 10/10! Thanks (:
Get. The. Fried. Chicken. My friend has a severe gluten allergy and this place had the best options for her dietary restrictions. We actually ate a to-go dinner the night before and then came back in person to sit outside in their lovely patio for lunch the following day. The flavors are really strong but really fun and creative. And the fried Chicken is the best fried chicken I think I've ever had in my life. Super moist with a very crunchy but not overly breaded outside. They also have a lovely array of matchas. They are not very sweetened so if you like your matcha's extra sweet just the server know. A very sweet touch, there are little flower vases all over and apparently you can purchase them to take home!
We had dinner. I guess they haven’t been open for dinner for very long. We LOVED everything we had. The owner was so friendly and super helpful with her recommendations. We enjoyed our cocktails. We had the flatbread mezze plate, the kebab, and the deconstructed samosas. We would have all of them again. We also took home some of their beautiful homemade chocolates.
Zi Spice is one of those places you almost don’t want to tell people about because it’s that good. The flavors are bold, fresh, and balanced. You can tell everything is made with care. Every dish I’ve ever tried had depth and just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the base.The service was just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without feeling over the top. Today I had the house salad with kabob protein and a lovely saffron cardamom latte (did I mention cardamom is my favorite - and no one in town has anything this CardiGood!) The atmosphere is clean, comfortable, and makes it easy to relax and enjoy your meal, whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout.If you’re looking for something flavorful and consistent, Zi Spice absolutely delivers. Definitely a spot worth adding to your regular rotation.
